Getting Started
Why choose a Denturist?
A Denturist is a licensed oral-health professional who focuses exclusively on dentures—designing, crafting, fitting, and maintaining them. At Battell Denture Clinic, your Denturist personally oversees every step in our on-site laboratory, ensuring precision, comfort, and quality control.
Did You Know? Many providers ship work to outside labs; we craft dentures right here in our Hamilton office for faster turnaround and a better fit.
How long does it take to make dentures?
Most new dentures take 4–5 weeks, with one appointment per week. Thanks to our on-site lab, rush cases and same-day adjustments are often available.
Your visits typically include: impressions → bite registration → try-in → final insert. Each stage fine-tunes fit, comfort, and appearance. We’ll also review care, storage, and adaptation tips.
What is the cost of new dentures?
Pricing depends on materials and design—Standard, Precision, or Premium. Every patient receives a clear written estimate during a free consultation. Call (905) 389-2217 to book your complimentary consultation at Battell Denture Clinic in Hamilton, Ontario.
About Complete and Partial Dentures
Explore your options for complete and partial dentures, fit longevity, and everyday care.
What’s the difference between complete and partial dentures?
Complete dentures replace all teeth in one arch (upper or lower). Partial dentures replace missing teeth while preserving the natural teeth you still have, helping maintain jaw alignment.
How often should I replace my dentures?
Typically every 5–7 years. Gums and bone reshape over time, and denture materials wear. Replacing helps maintain fit, chewing efficiency, and appearance.
What types of dentures do you offer?
• Standard: Reliable function with basic materials.
• Precision: Premium teeth and advanced techniques for improved fit and durability.
• Premium: Highest-quality materials and characterization for lifelike appearance and superior comfort.
- Implant-Secured Dentures: Premium, custom-crafted dentures anchored to dental implants for exceptional stability, comfort, and a natural-looking smile—combining advanced precision with lasting confidence
How should I care for my dentures?
• Brush daily with a denture brush and non-abrasive cleanser (never toothpaste).
• Soak overnight in denture solution; rinse before inserting.
• Brush gums and tongue to improve circulation and reduce bacteria.
Did You Know? A professional clean and polish at our Hamilton clinic can remove stains and restore shine—often while you wait.
About Relines, Repairs & Additions
Most denture repairs and relines can be completed the same day thanks to our on-site laboratory. Get quick, professional repairs, relines and additions at Battell Denture Clinic on Concession Street in Hamilton.
What should I do if my denture breaks?
Stop wearing it and contact us immediately. Avoid super glue—it damages acrylic and can irritate tissues. Same-day repairs are often available in our on-site lab.
How often should I have my dentures relined?
You should have your dentures relined every 2–3 years. Relines refresh the internal fit as gums and bone change—improving comfort and extending denture life.
Can a tooth be added to my partial denture?
Yes—if a natural tooth is lost, a replacement can often be added to your partial. We’ll take an impression for precise positioning and shade match. Same-day denture additions are common.
Can the fit be improved without making a new denture?
Often, yes. A denture reline or adjustment can restore stability if the denture is otherwise in good condition. We’ll advise whether a reline or replacement is best.
Did You Know? Our on-site Hamilton lab enables same-day repairs and relines—saving you both time and travel.

About Annual Check-Ups
Yearly appointments help maintain fit, protect oral tissues, and prevent costly problems later. Keep your dentures comfortable—schedule your annual check-up in Hamilton.
How do I know if I need an annual check-up?
If it’s been over a year, or you’ve noticed looseness, rubbing, or bite changes, it’s time. Annual exams help keep dentures comfortable and functional.
What happens during an annual check-up?
We examine tissues, bite, and denture wear; clean and polish dentures; and recommend relines or repairs as needed.
How often should I visit my Denturist?
Once a year for most. Patients with implants, health changes, or rapid tissue changes may benefit from more frequent visits.
Did You Know? Annual check-ups can extend denture lifespan and catch problems early.

About Adjusting to New Dentures
New dentures? Hamilton’s Battell Denture Clinic offers expert guidance and same-day adjustments. It’s normal for dentures to need an adjustment period. Here’s what to expect and how to adapt comfortably.
Why does my lower denture feel looser than my upper one?
Lowers rest on a smaller surface and move with the tongue and cheeks—so they rarely have the same suction as uppers. Patience helps; implants can markedly improve stability.
How long does it take to get used to new dentures?
Every mouth is different. Some adapt in days; others need several weeks. Read aloud, chew slowly, and wear daily to speed adaptation.
Can a tooth be added to my partial denture?
Yes—if a natural tooth is lost, a replacement can often be added to your partial. We’ll take an impression for precise positioning and shade match. Same-day denture additions are common.
How do dentures affect how I look, eat, and speak?
Well-made dentures support facial muscles, soften lines, and restore a natural look. Chewing and speech improve as your tongue learns new positions. If soreness occurs, book an adjustment—don’t modify dentures yourself.
Did You Know? If your dentures are feeling “big” or “awkward” at first… this is normal—your mouth is learning a new muscle routine. Call (905) 389-2217 to book a complimentary comfort check at Battell Denture Clinic in Hamilton, Ontario.
About Implant-Secured Dentures
Dental implants stabilize dentures for better chewing, comfort, and confidence. Explore implant-secured dentures in Hamilton—secure, natural smiles at Battell Denture Clinic.
What are dental implants?
A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces a tooth root and supports a denture or crown. Implants help preserve bone and provide exceptional stability.
Am I a good candidate for implant-secured dentures?
Most healthy adults with adequate jawbone benefit. Your Denturist works with the implant surgeon to plan a custom solution.
What are the benefits of implant-secured dentures?
• Improved chewing and comfort
• No slipping or movement
• Helps prevent bone loss and facial collapse
• Restores confidence and natural appearance
Does insurance cover dental implants?
Coverage varies. Some plans provide partial benefits or cover the denture portion. We’ll submit a pre-determination for clarity.

About Teeth Whitening
Hamilton’s trusted clinic offers custom whitening for long-lasting results. Safe, professional whitening for natural teeth. (Whitening does not change denture tooth colour.)
How do I know if I’m a good candidate for teeth whitening?
Most people with healthy, natural teeth qualify. We’ll assess your oral health to ensure safe, effective results. Whitening brightens natural tooth enamel but does not change restorations or denture teeth.
How long do whitening results last?
With good care and limiting staining foods and drinks, results can last 6 months to 2 years. Touch-ups help maintain brightness.
Can professional whitening damage my teeth?
No. Under professional supervision, our peroxide-based systems are safe for enamel and carefully controlled for comfort.
How is professional whitening different from store-bought kits?
Custom-fit trays and clinical-grade gel provide faster, more even, and longer-lasting results than over-the-counter options.
